2021-2022 Membership Information and Fees
Updated May 1, 2022

The Calgary Warriors Membership year runs from October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022. Registration starts August 15, 2021. All new and returning athletes are required to register. Link to registration form.

We accept athletes age 12 and up (12 years of age by December 31, 2022). The number of athletes we can accept is limited because of limited space in our indoor training facility. New members are encouraged to join for a free two week trial period to see if the club is a good fit.

Fee Structure
The annual club fees are $850 plus volunteer bond of $400 (per family) and $350 meet fund for a total of $1,600. The $400 volunteer bond is refunded once all volunteer hours are fulfilled. The meet fund is used for individual meet fees, Athletics Alberta fees and apparel such as the required $50 team singlet. Any remaining balance in the meet fund at the end of the year is refunded or rolled over to the next year.

The $1,600 fee can be paid upon joining or spread across three payments: $700 paid upon joining, $450 on February 1 and $450 on May 1. All payments are made using Interac e-transfer sent to the club treasurer at treasurer@calgarywarriorstrack.com. Interac e-transfer is a free money transfer service offered by all Canadian banks and most credit unions.

The $850 club fees cover only a small portion of the club expenses. The club could not exist without the generous support of Charity Casino funding. Parents are expected to volunteer at the Charity Casino approximately once every 18 months. Parents are also expected to provide a minimum of 12 hours volunteering at track meets. For families with 2 or more athletes in the club, the annual volunteer commitment is 20 hours. This requirement has been set by Athletics Alberta – the governing body for track and field in Alberta.

Travel
The meet fund can also be used to fund travel or a separate transfer can be sent to cover travel expenses. Every year, there is usually 3 indoor meets in Edmonton and 2 to 3 out of town outdoor meets. Athletes are responsible for travel costs and are encouraged to travel and stay with the team. The club takes care of booking hotel and travel and tries to keep the costs affordable.

Nationals
The premier track meet of the year is the National Championships for U18 and U16 athletes. Meeting a qualification standard is required to attend and Calgary Warriors always has some athletes that attend. Top athletes who are names as part of the Alberta Team have all expenses covered by Athletics Alberta. Some club athletes also attend the Senior and U20 National Championships.
